6largechocolate croissants, sliced into bite-sized pieces
4largeeggs
2cupswhole milk
12granulated sugar
1teaspoonpure vanilla extract
12ground cinnamon
14fine sea salt
1cupsemi-sweet chocolate chips
to tastepowdered sugar, for dusting
Instructions
Begin by preheating your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x13 inch baking dish thoroughly with butter or cooking spray to prevent sticking.
In a large mixing bowl, crack the eggs and whisk them together until frothy. Gradually add the whole milk, granulated sugar, vanilla extract, ground cinnamon, and fine sea salt. Whisk these ingredients together until completely blended and smooth.
Carefully add the bite-sized pieces of chocolate croissants to the egg mixture. Using a spatula, gently fold the croissant pieces in until they are thoroughly soaked and coated with the custard mixture.
Transfer the croissant mixture into the prepared baking dish, making sure to spread it out evenly across the surface.
Generously sprinkle the semi-sweet chocolate chips over the top of the mixture, distributing them evenly for a melty chocolate experience in every bite.
Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes. The bake is ready when the top is beautifully golden brown and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
Once baked, remove the dish from the oven and set it aside to cool for about 10 minutes—this will help set the custard further.
To finish off your decadent creation, dust the top lightly with powdered sugar just before serving, adding a touch of sweetness and elegance.
Notes
Serve warm with fresh berries or vanilla ice cream for an indulgent treat.
